Originally posted to EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL site 10/4/13 – You’ll be seeing a lot of these archival posts from my days with EVIL DEAD to make sure they don’t get lost in case the original site goes down. Plus it is a bit of fun to stroll down memory lane…
We recently learned, as the public did, that the Goretorium has shut its doors for good. This was Eli Roth’s year-round haunt on the Strip. While the closing of Goretorium was not a surprise, we were distressed to learn that the haunt is leaving in its wake a bunch of couples who had prepaid to have their weddings there and it is unable to refund their monies or help them out.
You read that right. The couples prepaid for their weddings. And no, they aren’t getting their money back any time soon. People are coming from all over the country and the world, with travel plans that can’t be changed, and the very place they were planning on having their wedding has not only closed but is not able to give them their funds back!
We thought, as many did, that Eli Roth might step in and help these people out since his name is all over Goretorium. But he hasn’t yet. In fact, the couples have been sent form letters and that’s all. No apologies. No help of any kind.
We couldn’t let this happen, not while we are able to do something about it. So now Ash is not only kicking undead ass but he’s also saving unwed couples! We’re swooping in to save the wedding day for these awesome couples whose only mistake was in picking Goretorium as their wedding venue.
First up is Andrea Vasquez and Rob Park of Arizona! They were planning on having their zombie-themed wedding on October 18th but, like so many others, got the dreaded “we’re closing” letter from Goretorium. We heard about their story on the news and offered to help them out.
And now, thanks to the generosity of A Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Hi-Scores Bar-Arcade, V Theater, and EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL, their wedding is even BIGGER and BETTER than what they had planned before. Hi-Scores is catering their reception which is happening at the V Theater Veranda Bar where guests’ beverages are free and the bride and groom are getting champagne. All courtesy of V Theater. And the wedding ceremony itself? It’s happening during the intermission of our show. A Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas is providing the chaplain, the bouquet, the videographer, and the photographer. We’re supplying the seats for the entire wedding party (over 30 people) and a big old bucket of blood to “Carrie” the lucky couple with! After the show we’re going out to toast the lucky couple that night! Talk about a full evening!
And how much is this costing the couple? Nothing. You read that right. The catering, the champagne, the seats to the show, the wedding ceremony itself – it is all free. Why? Because when someone is fucked over, you do your best to help them out, that’s why!
Now that we’ve done our part to help these guys out, we need some help from you. We want to make sure Rob and Andrea have a nice full room full of people to celebrate with them so we encourage you to come to the show on Friday 10/18 and experience the first EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL wedding!
