This was originally posted to the Las Vegas EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL site in 2014. You’ll be seeing a lot of these archival posts from my days with EVIL DEAD to make sure they don’t get lost in the shuffle of the interwebs. Plus it is a bit of fun to stroll down memory lane…
They sure know how to do things at Mondays Dark! This past Monday was the event’s grand opening at the Vinyl inside the Hard Rock Hotel, which served as a fundraiser for NSPCA. There were a slew of people in attendance, including tons of performers, celebrities, fans of the show, lovers of animals, and people who wandered in not knowing what the hell they were in for! It was loud, rowdy, and crowded – just our sort of place!
In the heart of this classy insanity was EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL. We were invited to the event by NVSPCA, and were happy to be a part of it. We love working with these guys. What sort of a heartless bastard do you need to be to turn your back on helpless animals? We may be willing to disembowel the undead, smash zombies, and rain blood on our fans, but we draw the line at disregarding our furry friends.
We met many fans – old and new – outside the event while walking the red carpet and mingling with people, and of course we met even more once the doors were open to the public and the event got underway.
The stars of EVIL DEAD got to share the stage with the likes of Melody Sweets from ABSINTHE, the stars of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, performers from ROCK OF AGES, and more. For our number, we decided to stick with the animal theme and try something everyone was familiar with – The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It was simple, sweet, and totally kicked ass!
We enjoyed seeing many of our regular fans at the event, and are grateful they decided to help us help the NSPCA by coming to the event. Thank you to everyone who came out!
In total, between the silent auction and the tickets, the event raised $10k. Now THAT should keep them in kibbles for at least a little while!
We want to thank the organizers of MONDAYS DARK for their generous support of NVSPCA, and congratulate them on the successful event.
We met a lot of fans, got a chance to hang out with several other KILLER fellow guests, and had a great time.
We hope to see everyone at Mondays Dark next time!
